In the afternoon Pat takes
me for a drive to see the local sights. We follow the Crinan
canal to where it ends
(starts?) on the west side at Crinan.

beautiful Russian agent Tatiana Romanova (Daniela Bianchi) being
pursued by sinister SPECTRE agents in a speed boat in Turkey. Unbeknownst
to the vast majority of cinema goers, due to filming difficulties,
the final boat chase scene was actually shot on Loch Craignish,
near Crinan, Argyll.

takes me to see the ruins of the Poltalloch house. Formerly
the seat of the Malcolms of Poltalloch.
It was built between 1849 to 1853. The house was converted into flats in the 20th century and de-roofed in 1957 (to
avoid taxes) with all the contents and fixtures being sold.
And what it looked
like before nature took over.
The house had
it's own chapel - still in use today.
the way back we pop into the Kilmartin Hotel for one,
a nice little place. Pat knows the manager and he offers
us a lift home at closing time if we want to stay for
a session, but we decline his generous offer, the beer
was very good and it's only mid afternoon so it
would've got messy! We mention that we've just
been up to Poltalloch house
he produces a black and white photo of it taken
when it was in one piece, I take a photo of the
photo (see above).
